Woodshire Studio explores the relationships between land, water, and people in the Great Lakes and Driftless regions through writing, photography, and independent journals. The studio edits for SustainableDriftlessMagazine, amplifies the voices of sustainability for Sustainable-Driftless.org, and the upcoming publication-- Great lakes Watershed Notes, a multi-state journal of land, water, and change, with columnists, book reviews, and curated publications focused on landscape, resilience, life, and stewardship.

Woodshire Studio today grew from Julia's long career in design, planning, and community development—work that has always centered on how environments are shaped, how communities evolve, how people react to and grow within their environment, and how places endure.
Julia has developed conceptual architectural plans for many commercial and residential projects, designing interiors and exteriors, gardens, and neighborhoods in Southwest Wisconsin and in Michigan througout her career.
She also has served as a community visionary and project manager for main street, small business, and Economic Development & Disaster Recovery--leveraaging public and private investment to create workforce housing, and anchor businesses in rural Wisconsin.

LEADERSHIP & SUSTAINABILTY
With her commitment to the ongoing promotion and economic development within the region, she launched "Driftless Notes", originally in print format (2013), and then as a weekly online news aggregation.
In 2014, as part of the leadership of Sustainable Driftless, Inc, a non-profit committed to furthering vibrant communities and understanding of the Driftless Region, she edits the Sustainable Driftless Magazine, an online publication with a mission of educational outreach to lead to sustainable development and smart economic growth.
She is now producing a stunning "Coffee Table" book; "Driftless in Time: Capturing the Moment", illustrating the region via the perspective of talented photographers and, writers.
